Ethically Minded
Chop and Change is different to your average tree surgeon - the environment and nature is always our primary focus.
How can a tree surgeon be eco-friendly?
It’s a fair question and it’s one we get asked a lot. The truth is, that any business can be eco-friendly, it’s just about focusing more time and energy on reducing or balancing out the negative impacts a business can have on the environment. Sometimes this means not always doing things the ‘quick’ or ‘easy’ way, but we know it’s important, so that’s why we do it.
As tree feeling is a task we undertake regularly, so to balance this, we try to mitigate our actions by encouraging tree planting at every opportunity. Scroll down to read about out Free Tree Replacement Scheme for more information.
A move to electric
Opting for electric power tools, rather than traditional two-stroke options is just one of the ways we’ve looked to reduce our carbon emissions and improve our eco-credentials. Not only do they reduce our fuel consumption, but they are also much quieter for operator and homeowner. The electric models we currently use are:
Chainsaws (Climbing saws and ground saws)
Hedge cutters
Pole saws
Blowers
Strimmers
Free Tree Replacement
We’re proud to offer a free tree replacement programme for every removal we carry out. It’s just one of the ways we can help conserve our environment.
We can purchase and plant a 1-2 year old tree in your garden, or we will contribute the cost of this tree to a tree planting programme with whom we partner with. We are also currently looking for sites to plant trees locally.

Zero waste company
Our aim is to create ZERO waste from our jobs, and we are continually striving to make improvements in this area.
Where possible we aim to to leave deadwood on site as this will help the local ecosystem thrive. Logs can be left in piles to breakdown or recycled into fire wood. Branches are chipped with the option of leaving on site for the client to use as mulch or pathways, or taken away for use in biomass production.
